APC to Makinde: EFCC will probe your administration at the right time

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Governor Seyi Makinde cannot escape investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-graft agencies.
The party stated that the governor would eventually be required to account for funds received by his administration since assuming office in 2019.

The APC made the statement on Thursday while reacting to the recent ruling of the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, which held that the EFCC lacks the authority to investigate the finances of the current Oyo State Government.
In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Wasiu Sadare, the APC expressed disappointment with the court’s decision, accusing the governor of attempting to prevent the anti-corruption agency from carrying out its constitutional duties.

The party questioned why any governor would be reluctant to account for public resources entrusted to him for the benefit of citizens.
“Why would a governor be afraid to render an account of resources given to him on trust to benefit the citizenry? What size of skeleton does Governor Makinde have in the cupboard that he is keeping away from us?” the statement read.

The APC maintained that the EFCC and other relevant agencies would carry out their responsibilities at the appropriate time, insisting that all financial activities of the administration would eventually be subjected to scrutiny.

“The truth is that he can only run but he cannot hide. EFCC and other anti-graft agencies will do their work at the appropriate time and all the lid will be blown open,” the party added.
