Lawmakers are seeking to determine how the organisation appeared in official government records and whether any public institutions facilitated its operations.The investigating committee warned the affected MDAs to comply with its directives within 48 hours, stressing that failure to do so could attract legislative sanctions.
The probe recorded fresh developments on Tuesday as the committee summoned the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, to appear before it in person, despite the ministry having delegated a representative to the hearing.In a related development, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana (SAN), withdrew from representing the alleged Director-General of the council, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, in the ongoing matter.The House said the investigation is aimed at uncovering the true legal status of the alleged council and establishing whether any government agencies or officials played a role in its activities. Lawmakers maintained that the outcome of the probe would help ensure accountability and protect the integrity of public institutions.
