Suspected bandits allegedly linked to notorious armed group leader, Bello Turji, have attacked Kwaren Gamba community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, leaving two residents dead and three others injured.
The attackers reportedly stormed the community on Saturday night, killing the victims, injuring others and abducting an unspecified number of residents during the raid.
The incident was revealed on Sunday by security analyst, Bakatsine, in a post shared on the social media platform X.
According to him, the attack underscores the growing insecurity in Sokoto East, particularly in Sabon Birni and Isa Local Government Areas, where communities have continued to suffer repeated assaults by armed groups.
“Last night, bandits loyal to the notorious bandit leader Bello Turji attacked Kwaren Gamba community in Sabon Birni LGA of Sokoto State, killing two people, injuring three others and abducting several residents,” Bakatsine stated.
He described the attack as another indication of the persistent security challenges facing residents in the area, questioning how long the group would continue to terrorise communities before decisive measures are taken to end the violence.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the latest incident or confirm the number of people abducted.
