Nigeria, Ghana Agree on Stronger Diplomatic Ties at ECOWAS Summit. Abuja – Nigeria and Ghana have agreed to deepen diplomatic engagement and strengthen bilateral cooperation following a meeting between senior officials of both countries on the sidelines of the ongoing ECOWAS Mid-Year Summit in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

The agreement was disclosed in a statement signed by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, in Abuja on Saturday.According to the statement, the understanding was reached during a meeting between Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, and Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, on Friday.During the meeting, Enikanolaiye emphasised the need for greater collaboration and strategic consultations between Nigeria and Ghana to further strengthen the longstanding relationship between the two West African nations.He also advocated the adoption of preventive diplomacy as a means of resolving emerging issues before they escalate into major disputes, stressing that early engagement would help preserve the cordial ties between both countries.

The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to promoting regional peace, stability and cooperation through sustained dialogue and closer diplomatic engagement.
