The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced a two-day power outage affecting the Presidential Villa, National


Assembly, Supreme Court and several other key locations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
AEDC, in a notice issued on Thursday, said the blackout would occur on Saturday and Sunday as part of planned maintenance activities linked to the relocation of electric power towers from the 132kV/33kV Apo Transmission Station.
According to the electricity distribution company, the relocation exercise is necessary to support ongoing road construction works in the area.


Several major government institutions and residential areas are expected to be affected by the planned outage, including the State House Villa, National Assembly Annex, Supreme Court, Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), National Judicial Council (NJC), Julius Berger, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) office, Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), State House Clinic and several military formations.
Other affected areas listed by AEDC include Aso Drive, IBB Golf Club, Lungi Barracks, Mambilla Barracks, Aguyi Ironsi Barracks, DSS Headquarters, Niger Barracks, Gowon Barracks, Army Museum, Army War College, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Asokoro Extension, Guzape, ECOWAS Secretariat, World Bank area and surrounding communities.
The company appealed to residents and businesses within the affected locations to make necessary preparations, assuring customers that power supply would be restored after the completion of the planned work.
