The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2027 general elections, Omoyele Sowore, has pledged to scrap fees for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations if he wins the presidency.
Sowore made the promise on Monday while unveiling what he described as his education blueprint for Nigeria, which includes free education from nursery school to university level.
The AAC candidate said no Nigerian child should be denied access to education because of financial difficulties, stressing that education should be treated as a fundamental right rather than a privilege.
He stated that a government under his leadership would remove the burden of public examination fees from parents and students.
“No government under a #Sowore2027 administration will ask your child to pay WAEC, NECO, or any other public examination fee. Education will be free because knowledge is a right, not a privilege,” Sowore said.
He added that his proposed education policy would provide free, quality education supported by modern classrooms, virtual learning facilities, improved welfare for teachers, student grants, and equal opportunities for all Nigerian children.
Sowore described the plan as a “revolutionary commitment” aimed at ensuring that poverty does not determ
ine the future of Nigerian children.
He urged Nigerians to study, discuss, and support his proposed education reforms ahead of the 2027 elections.
