ICPC Accuses El-Rufai of Violating Court Order Over Medical Visit. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has accused former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, of abusing a court-approved medical visit while in the Commission’s custody, describing the incident as a violation of a subsisting court order.
The anti-corruption agency made the allegation following El-Rufai’s failure to appear before the Kaduna State High Court on the first day of his scheduled criminal trial.The Kaduna State High Court had fixed July 6, 7 and 8, 2026, for the accelerated hearing of the criminal charges pending against the former governor. However, when proceedings commenced on the first day, El-Rufai was absent from court.According to the ICPC, El-Rufai had earlier obtained the court’s approval to leave its custody for a medical visit under specific conditions.
The Commission alleged that he failed to comply with the terms of the court order, describing his actions as an abuse of the privilege granted by the court.The Commission urged the court to take note of the alleged breach as proceedings in the case continue.El-Rufai is facing criminal charges before the Kaduna State High Court, with the matter expected to continue as scheduled.
