Former INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mike Igini, has raised the alarm over alleged attempts by politicians to manipulate election personnel lists ahead of the 2027 general elections.Igini alleged that some politicians provide fake corps members with NYSC uniforms to make them appear genuine and participate in conducting elections.
He called on the NYSC Director-General to digitise and properly verify the list of corps members submitted to INEC to prevent unauthorised individuals from being deployed to polling units.Recalling his experience during the 2019 elections in Akwa Ibom State,
Igini claimed that unqualified individuals, including a market woman, were found on a list of election personnel. He warned that failure to verify election officials could create opportunities for electoral manipulation and called for urgent action to protect the credibility of the 2027 elections.
